For the average business owner it does not have to be. There are actually many simple strategies  that will better optimize your site for search engines:

Find the best keywords, and optimize for keywords that are closer to your niche and have fewer competitors.  Google Trends,  Google keyword tool and add words are free tools that can give you all the data you need.  To make sure that you delete all duplicate content, use Google search console.  It will display any instances of duplicate content it finds on your site, which are usually results of errors and not plagiarism.  You still need to correct this to keep your site in good standing.  Be sure to correct 404 errors.  404 errors are like dead-end streets and no one likes a dead end  street.  You can use Google search console for help and be sure to set up 301 directs where necessary to close the gaps.   Write unique and special title tags for every page, and be sure every page has a title under 70 characters.  Be sure that the title describes the page and describes the page features.   Write  a worthwhile meta description for every page.  Every  meta-description should be under 160 characters. This needs to describe the page in more detail.  The meta-description probably doesn’t play as much of a role in your actual page rankings, but it can help with SEO.  Be sure your meta-descriptions are unique precise and compelling.

Clean up your URL structure.

Your URLs should have a trail and feature readable indicators of the content on the page.   Avoid using numbers or random strings of texting your URLs.  Update your blog often.  As long as it’s valuable to readers give them more content,  that is never a bad thing.   Keeping your blog updated is more beneficial than ever before.  Linking together relevant pages of your site will make it easier for the users and provide a better experience.  It also helps Google better understand.
